Owners sign in with Google. We store their Firebase user ID, display name and email address for account operation. Visitors receive a temporary anonymous Firebase ID. We process QR names, sticker headlines and categories, messages, images, notification tokens, timestamps, and limited rate-limit and security records.
Why we use it
We use this information to route private messages, deliver notifications, show conversations to their participants, prevent abuse, operate the service, and meet valid legal obligations. We do not sell message content or use it for advertising.
Who can see a conversation
During an active conversation, participants can see its text, and an uploaded image is shown to its intended recipient. A restricted Qubei administrator can access active and retained conversations, including messages and images, for service operations, security and lawful audit. Administrative content access is logged. The sender may still hold the original image on their device. QR scans do not reveal the owner’s Google profile, email or phone number.
30-minute conversation and 30-day archive
A conversation ends 30 minutes after it begins, or earlier when closed or blocked. After it ends, participants cannot open its messages or images. Qubei retains restricted copies of messages and images for up to 30 days from the conversation start for security, abuse investigation, audit and lawful requests. Automated cleanup then removes them; deletion can take additional processing time. The additional storage recovery window was disabled on 30 October 2026 for future photo deletions. Photos already in the provider’s recovery window when this setting changed retain their original seven-day recovery period. A legal preservation duty may require longer retention.
Monitoring and disclosure
Qubei does not routinely read or manually monitor private conversations. Its restricted administrator dashboard can display account activity, QR codes, active conversations and retained conversation history. Authorized staff may access content for service operations, security, abuse investigation or valid legal requests. Firebase and its infrastructure providers process data on our behalf to operate authentication, hosting, messaging, databases and storage.
Your choices
Owners can pause or delete QR codes, close or block conversations, and sign out. An administrator may block an owner account for service or safety reasons. This disables sign-in, pauses its QRs and ends current chats. Existing records follow the retention period above. Visitors can stop using the conversation at any time. A visitor’s anonymous session is tied to that browser; clearing its data can remove access before the conversation ends. Do not send information you do not want the recipient to keep independently.
